Every fall, the same scramble: tryouts are Monday, the school portal wants a signed physical form, and the pediatrician's next opening is in three weeks. This guide covers how school and sports physicals work at our Pasadena walk-in clinic — and how to get in and out quickly with your paperwork done.
No appointment needed — but bring these three things
- The school's or league's form. Most Pasadena-area schools use a standard pre-participation form; bring it printed or pulled up on your phone so we can complete and sign the right document.
- Immunization records if the school requires them reviewed.
- A list of any medications, allergies, or medical history — especially anything heart- or asthma-related, and any past concussions or injuries.
What the exam actually covers
A sports physical is a focused screening: height, weight, blood pressure, vision, heart and lung exam, abdominal exam, and a musculoskeletal check of joints, strength, and flexibility. The goal is to catch anything that makes sports unsafe — heart murmurs, uncontrolled asthma, a not-yet-healed injury — and clear everything else. When something needs a closer look, we can do lab work or an EKG or X-ray on-site the same day, or point you to the right specialist.
School, work, and pre-op physicals too
The same walk-in convenience applies to annual physicals, work physicals, and pre-operative clearance exams when a surgery date is coming up.
When to come
August and September are our busiest physical months — mornings right at 8 AM on weekdays are typically the quietest time to walk in. We are open Monday–Friday 8 AM–8 PM and Saturday–Sunday 9 AM–5 PM, and we take our last patient 30 minutes prior to close. Families come to us from San Marino, South Pasadena, Altadena, and across Pasadena.
Questions about a specific form? Call (626) 304-0404 and our front desk will tell you exactly what to bring.
