COVID 19 Testing – How You Can Schedule a Test

The risk of infection due to COVID-19 is a high probability if you’ve been in close contact with anyone that recently tested positive for the virus. Getting vaccinated can help lower your risk of infection, but it’s still a possibility, even though you are less likely to experience any severe symptoms. Scheduling COVID 19 testing is important in staying proactive to avoid passing on the virus to other people.

Here are a few things to know if you need to schedule a test for COVID-19.

Should I get an Antibody Test?

An antibody test helps determine if you have had previous exposure to COVID-19. However, an antibody test shouldn’t be used to diagnose acute infection. It’s also important for you to self-quarantine if you are not fully vaccinated. On the other hand, the CDC recommends that fully vaccinated individuals don’t have to self-quarantine unless they are already experiencing symptoms.

What Happens If I Test Positive?

Following CDC guidelines is important if you test positive for COVID-19. For example, you will need to stay home for ten days since your first positive test if you don’t experience any symptoms. You will need to reach out to your doctor immediately if you have a fever, shortness of breath, or coughing.
